09 Aug Living Life to the Fullest with MARKS + SPENCER
I recently shared with you a personal piece on my recent revelations, connecting to nature and living more mindfully and with purpose. It resonated with so many of you and it was so nice to share my thoughts with a like-minded community. So when Marks + Spencer approached me to be part of their “Living Life to the Fullest” campaign, the timing was absolutely perfect.
I have been trying to live in the moment, focus on the little things and take a slower approach to life, motherhood and work. Just as I started to get my mind right and took a much needed break from work and social media, what happened? Luka got sick and my body caved. I got quite sick too. I spent the bulk of my “time off” looking after my unwell little man and trying to get well. There is nothing worse than being sick and having small people. Not only is day-to-day mummying utterly exhausting, it’s also relentless, and there is no time to rest. Some of you last week witnessed a very personal Insta Story video of me literally sobbing – worn out, unwell and overwhelmed. So many of us feel pressured to live a “perfect” life on social media, when in reality we all have our struggles, our demons and our limits. For me, it was important to put my vulnerability out there and let you all know that it’s more than ok to have an awful day … or week. You just pick yourself back up and keep going. Cause that’s what we Mama’s do best.
Getting so sick has made me reflect even more on my desire to slow down and live life to the fullest. To seek joy from everyday experiences. To simplfy. To do work that I love. To spend time with my family without distraction. It has also consolidated the absolute need to take care of ourselves. Our best life comes from us feeling our best. I often neglect my health + wellbeing at the expense of deadlines and emails. We must change our mindset in order to achieve our best selves.
One small way to simplify and feel great about yourself (with big impact) is to declutter your wardrobe and buy/choose pieces which are comfortable, resonate with you and that you truly love. Cut out the daily anxiety of “wardrobe full of clothes, with nothing to wear” but investing in classic pieces that make you feel amazing. This month, our Denim Diaries project continues and so we chose our fave two denim styles from the sensational Marks + Spencer collection – the “Mom” Jean + “Super Skinny” Jean and styled them with soft linens, tan leather and pink mules.
Both pairs of jeans are an amazing fit and true to size (I wear both in a Size 10 here). They’re endlessly versatile and exceptional quality, as well as great value. I have been eyeing off investing in a great pair of Mom Jeans for a while and at $42, these High Rise Mom Jeans are awesome value and the perfect cut and the Cut Hem Mid Rise Super Skinny Jeans are perfect for everyday wear.
Big thank you to Marks + Spencer for allowing me to share more of my personal story in the quest for “Living Life to the Fullest” and contributing to our Denim Diaries campaign.
