2 ways to style key trends for AW17

03 Apr 2 ways to style key trends for AW17

I love fashion. I love all the fashion weeks, I love Vogue, I love models, I love Devil Wear’s Prada (hahaha), I worship Mario Testino and I want to be Anna Wintour, even just for one day. So each time a new season rolls around, I joyfully stalk all the Fashion Show images (especially the street style ones) and look at upcoming key trends. For me, it’s creative, whimsical and inspirational.

What can be slightly more challenging, is interpreting trends for your own style in a way that reflects your lifestyle and is easy-to-wear. I’m still forever disappointed when I try on something I saw on Insta or in Elle and much to my dismay, the way it looks on me doesn’t in anyway resemble the way it looked on the model. For example, I love puffer jackets. On other people. When I try on a puffer jacket, I just feel like a giant, poofy marshmallow astronaut.

This is all especially relevant for me as a Mama. I am forever chasing (literally, running) after Luka or on work days, juggling client coffees with showings, shoots and household chores, one of the perils of working from home. I want to wear pieces that are on-trend whilst being reflective of my personal style but they MUST, first and foremost cater for my lifestyle.

I am such a big believer in look good, feel good and especially as Mamas, treating ourselves to some pieces that make us feel good and armed for whatever #mumlife may throw at us that day is essential in empowering us to be our best selves.

So I’ve taken inspo from some of the key trends for AW17 including winter florals, bomber jackets and of course, the oversize knit and styled two looks I love using two core items – leather sneakers and the bomber.

To vamp up your #modernmamastyle now, just head to your nearest Vicinity centre, add coffee and go x

Both looks include the “Filipa Leather Sneaker” from Country Road, “Milly 2 High Basque Bomber” from Cotton On and “Nola Lanyard Wallet” also from Country Road.

Look 1 – “Wrap Print Dress“, Country Road.

Look 2 – “High Rise Jegging” (DIY fray at the bottom) and “Lisa Cable Hi Lo Pullover” both from Cotton On.
