27 Jan INTEND WHAT? THE HARSH REALITY OF MONTH ONE x
You know that point at the end of January, when you realise the whole first month of the new year has passed, check in with your resolutions and holy, all the promises/intentions you made to yourself literally didn’t mean shit? That was me, yesterday.
At this point, the easiest (and worst) thing to do is throw in the towel. BUT, come on, be better than that. When I reflected properly on my commitments, I realised that whilst there are still actions I need to start or stop doing, I had in fact achieved, to a small degree, my overall intention which was to just do less and enjoy the moment. I was fortunate enough to spend the majority of Jan at our beach house so tuning out was easy and starting tasks which required routine + discipline really hard. The challenge going forward will be to pursue the actions, whilst maintaining my chillaxed and mindful mindset.
The other thing I ALWAYS struggle with is the balance between “doing less” and being lazy. When I’m not doing 5000 million things, I often feel like I’m being lazy, missing out on opportunities and not achieving what I could be. This is actually a really counter-productive mindset which often leads to over-committing, burnout, reactive behaviour and not leaving time to think.
So it’s onwards and upwards. Lessons learned and 11 whole new months to slay.
So, how are you guys going with your resolutions? I’d love to hear.
